From Nashvillest.com:
Tango at Twilight works like this: From 8-8:30pm, there’s a short tango lesson to learn the basics of the Argentinean tango. Then, take your newfound tango skillz to the big time, because from 8:30-10pm is the actual Dance Social. It’s free, all ages and skill levels are welcome, and it’s really just a big party in the park on Tango at Twilight nights. (6/12, 6/26, 7/10, 7/24, 8/14, 8/28).
The summer’s other outdoor dance events are Big Band Dances, and they work pretty much the same way as Tango at Twilight. Short dance lessons are from 7:30-8pm and from 8:30-8:50pm on Big Band Dance nights, with open dancing from 7:30-10pm. They’re held every Saturday beginning June 6 in the Centennial Park event shelter, and have become a great community event every year. Big Band Dances cover a broad variety of dance styles, are also free, and families are welcomed. This year’s schedule is:
June 6: The Moonlighters Big Band (Rumba)
June 13: Bill Sleeter Band (Rumba)
June 20: Radio Daze Big Band (Swing)
June 27: Music City Swing (Swing)
July 11: Stardust (ChaCha)
July 18: The Moonlighters Big Band (ChaCha)
July 25: Merchants of Cool (Foxtrot)
August 1: The Usual Suspects (Foxtrot)
August 8: Radio Daze Big Band (Tango)
August 15: Debbie Bailes Band (Tango)
August 22: Music City Swing (Waltz)
August 29: The Moonlighters Big Band (Waltz)

The Clearing House Consignment Interiors Spring Sale will be in full swing on Tuesday, June 2, and will last until the end of July. It’s a buyers’ market! The shop is packed to the rafters with quality home furnishings, and this should be a really great time to get a bargain. It is in Belle Meade Plaza.
My younger sister (an artist herself) passed along a link to the Dolan Geiman etsy page a while ago. We’re both huge fans of Etsy and, in my case, mixed-medium art. Geiman is wonderful in both respects and is highly involved with social media (he’s on Twitter, Facebook, Blogger, Etsy, etc.)…and he still has time to create wonderful pieces of artwork.
For my sister’s high school graduation, I purchased the lovely piece above and I know she’s seen it arrive at home in the past week and is probably aching to open it when I get home on Thursday night…
I strongly suggest following Geiman on one of the above social media sites or stopping by to see his artwork in person at a variety of festivals he attends around the country.

Green Hills’ Bandywood community has the newly relocated Element Salon and on Wednesday, May 20, the salon will present Our Treat! It is a no-strings-attached free day of pampering including free shampoos, blow dries, scalp massages and style consults. There will also be complimentary snacks and beverages.
Appointments are necessary, so call 747.8484 ASAP!
Although I still find it frustrating to have to buy my wine in a liquor store, I can’t deny that these events sound like fun!
These events are held at Boundr’y in collaboration with Grace’s Plaza Wine & Spirits. They cost $25/person with a limit of 50 attendees. They last from 6:00-7:30. Here is the description of the event next week, May 20, 2009:
Pinot Gris/Grigio a wine for Southern Summers - May 20th, 2009
Summer will soon be upon us and when the temperature and humidity both hit 90 a bottle of Pinot Grigio can take a bit of the edge off. When I started selling wine, you couldn’t give the stuff away, but over the last few years it has been the fastest-growing varietal in the wine biz. We’ll look at the differences between French and Italian-inspired versions and the best time to drink each one.
It’s in downtown Nashville on 4th next to the entrance to the arcade. REALLY good and less than $10 for an extremely filling meal. DO IT.
Allison Weiss rocked last night. Why don’t you have her music yet? (Amazon MP3, iTunes. This album’s even free.)
For newcomers, I suggest starting with An Eight Song Tribute To Feeling Bad & Feeling Better. (Just go for it. You’ve probably risked more than that album’s price on a sandwich that wasn’t nearly as good as this.)
: )
(allison weiss is a badass.)
